As I am mapping out the fraternity events for the spring quarter in my weekly planner; it seems so easy to just flip 10 or so pages and be looking at summer.
Im excited to see what new adventures and hardships come this spring qtr and wish everybody the best of luck in school/work and everything else!

This quarter I was fortunate enough to end finals earlier than normal. I had many projects in mind for this break and one of them was to build a Hackintosh desktop.
I’ll utilize this blog to note down any problems I run into and how difficult to transition from Windows to Mac
Quick specs:
Desktop: HP Slimline S7220N [1.5 celeron (intel), 512 mb ram]
Distrubution: Kalyway 10.5.2 .
Errors:
1) While installing Kalyway i get an error:
cannot write to “volumes/untitled/Basesystem Pkg.1619.Dvk
Solution: While choosing which disk to install OSX, go to disk utility (on the top), rename the partition which you plan on formatting to “Leopard” and all is well.
2) After install, OSX asks you to restart to complete the install. Currently I am stuck i in an restart loop… GREAT.
(side note, I left the install on over night, at 75 percent and I woke up this morning and realized my computer has been restarting itself throughout the night…)
Solution: (nothing.)
Edit: 3:55 PM
So I realize that it has been a while since I updated my progress on this journey so heres a run down.
1) After fiddling around with the problem 2, my coworker made me realize that im trying run OsX on a Celeron 1.5, 512 of ram… The performance is going to be horrid.
2) I took out the 200 Gig HDD from this desktop and placed it my other Desktop.
3) Now trying to install OSX on a much powerful device I am running into another problem… execpt its AMD
4) Install gets stuck at “Kernal Version: Darwin Kernel Version 9.2.0: Sun Mar 2 00:11:08 SCT 2008; made by ToH:xu-1228/Build/obj/RELEASE_I386
5) have tried all special boot commands and everything gets stuck here.
…I am now thinking that I need another distrubution type?
3/28/2009 update:
I have tried with 3 different types of distrubution and all of them have failed me even after tweaking small details.
It appears that my hardware just wasn’t fit for an OSX install.
Now i dont see that this is a total lose of time on my end. I knew it would be a difficult challenge and I learned from it. =)
